Legacy Partners is a privately held real estate firm that owns, develops and manages multifamily communities throughout the United States. Since our inception, we have been driven by integrity, dedication, and a passion for perfection while returning exceptional results. Since 1968, we have developed more than 60,000 apartment homes and worked with some of the world’s largest financial institutions, life insurance companies, and real estate companies.

In addition to development, Legacy Partners provides management services for our own portfolio, as well as other owners. Combined, we manage a portfolio of over 60 multifamily communities with more than 14,000 apartment homes, with a gross value in excess of $2 billion.

    Preston Butcher is Chairman of Legacy Partners (formerly Lincoln Property Company N.C., Inc. Western Region) and formerly Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Partners Commercial in Foster City, California. Legacy Partners develops, acquires and manages income property in the western United States. Legacy Partners has developed, acquired and managed over 73,000 residential housing units which have exceeded $6.3 billion in cost. Under Mr. Butcher’s leadership, Legacy Partners Commercial developed, acquired and managed 128 million square feet which has exceeded $10.93 billion in cost. Mr. Butcher sold his interest in Legacy Partners Commercial to NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. in September 2014. Mr. Butcher has extensive experience throughout the western half of the United States in the development and acquisition of apartment units, industrial space and office space. This experience has resulted from partnerships with local people in the major western cities.

    In October 2001, Legacy Partners was honored by Multifamily Executive Magazine as 2002 Builder of the Year with representation on the magazine cover. In February 2002, Legacy Partners received the prestigious “Pillars of the Industry Award,” for 2002 Builder of the Year presented by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Multifamily Division. The top honor recognizes superior career achievement by a multifamily builder whose products have made a positive impact on the industry and whose career demonstrates a desire and commitment to provide quality multifamily housing.

    Mr. Butcher co‑founded, formerly served as past Chairman of the Board of Directors, and presently serves on the Executive Committee of the National Multi Housing Council, a national trade association whose members are the major apartment owners and managers throughout the United States. He also co‑founded and currently serves as a Director of the California Housing Council.

    Mr. Butcher is also a member of the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at University of California, Berkeley and is a founding board member of BRIDGE which is a non-profit housing corporation created to provide low to moderate income housing. He is a current director of the Charles Schwab Corporation and KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT, Inc. Mr. Butcher is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Urban Land Institute, a former director of BRE Properties, Inc. and a former director of NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. Mr. Butcher is a past Overseer of the Hoover Institution, Stanford University.

    He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

    Mr. Henry serves as Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Partners and has been involved exclusively in multifamily real estate acquisitions/development, financing, asset and property management, and dispositions since 1969. He joined the Western Region of Lincoln Property Company, Legacy’s predecessor organization, in 1973. Mr. Henry serves on the Executive Committee of the National Multifamily Housing Council. He is a member of the Policy Advisory Board of the Center for Real Estate at the University of California at Berkeley.

    He is a former Chairman of the Board of the YMCA of San Francisco and has served as a board member since 2003. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Multifamily Leadership Board of the National Association of Home Builders. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and is a former board member of Mercy Housing, a non-profit affordable housing organization which has participated in the development, preservation and/or financing of thousands of affordable homes in the United States.

    Mr. Henry received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from University of Puget Sound.

    Mr. Hays is President of Legacy Partners. He oversees the management, operations, and financial affairs of Legacy Partners and is involved in setting company strategy and monitoring performance. Mr. Hays has been with Legacy Partners since 1986 and has over 29 years of multifamily real estate experience encompassing acquisitions, development, financing, asset and property management, and dispositions. During this time he has overseen the acquisition, development and financing of over 26,000 apartment units, exceeding $4.5 billion in cost.

    Prior to joining Legacy Partners in 1986, Mr. Hays was with Kenneth Leventhal and Company, a CPA firm in Dallas, Texas specializing in real estate.

    Mr. Hays is an active member of the National Multifamily Housing Council and serves on the Multifamily Leadership Board of the National Association of Home Builders and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

    Robert Calleja is Legacy Partners’ Chief Financial Officer, a position he has held since August 2012. As CFO, Mr. Calleja directs Legacy Partners’ capital markets, financial planning and analysis, risk management, and information technology functions and oversees all other financial aspects of the company. Mr. Calleja has closed acquisitions of almost 19,000 apartment homes exceeding $3.9 billion in cost, closed loans of $2.7 billion, and overseen the disposition of over 24,000 apartment homes for $3.9 billion.

    Mr. Calleja has been involved exclusively in real estate acquisitions/development, financing, and dispositions for 23 years. He joined Lincoln Property Company in 1997 and became the Vice President, Finance of Legacy Partners in 2003 and Senior Vice President, Finance of Legacy in 2009. Prior to joining Lincoln Property Company, he was a Real Estate Consulting Manager for Arthur Andersen, LLP. He is an associate member of the Urban Land Institute.

    Mr. Calleja graduated cum laude from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics, concentration in Finance. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

    Ms. Foster is Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Legacy Partners, positions she has held since 2007 and 2004, respectively. Ms. Foster has been involved exclusively in real estate accounting, auditing, reporting, banking, and income tax returns for over 30 years. She joined the Western Region of Lincoln Property Company, Legacy’s predecessor organization, in 1983 and became an officer of Legacy Partners in 1998 when the Western Region became an independent company operating under the “Legacy Partners” name. Ms. Foster‘s oversight includes accounting, financial reporting, information technology, and cash management.

    Prior to joining Lincoln Property Company, Ms. Foster worked for Williams and Wood LLP in Dallas, Texas, where she provided tax and audit services to real estate clients.

    Ms. Foster is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the AICPA, the California society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Multi-Housing Council. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Baylor University.

    Amelia V. Johnson is Vice President of Human Resources for Legacy Partners. She is responsible for human resource management, development, employee relations, benefits and payroll. Ms. Johnson joined the company in 1980 and has worked exclusively in human resources since 1986.

    Ms. Johnson is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and received certification in Human Resources Administration from San Jose State University.

    Mr. Eichler joined Legacy Partners in January of 2015 with more than 30 years in the multifamily arena, including public/private partnerships, redevelopment opportunities, senior housing, and ground-up development. He brings a keen awareness of potential opportunities for acquisition, redevelopment and development.

    Mr. Eichler’s previous experience encompasses Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, the Washington, D.C. region and the New York Tri-State area. Prior to joining Legacy Partners, he served as president of LCOR Ventures LLC and previously was Senior Vice President of West Coast operations for LCOR Inc., a fully-integrated real estate company specializing in property development, investment and management.

    Mr. Eichler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

    Mr. Nicholson directs Legacy’s activities in the Pacific Northwest. He has been an active participant in the Pacific Northwest market since 1978. Prior to joining Legacy in 1999, Mr. Nicholson financed the commercial real estate industry for over 20 years; holding various senior management positions with GE Capital Real Estate, Bank of America and Wells Fargo. During that time, he made loan and equity commitments in excess of $2 billion.

    Mr. Nicholson is a former Chair of the ULI Northwest District Council and is founder and immediate past Chair of ULI Northwest’s Multi-Family Product Council. Mr. Nicholson is also Vice Chair of the Urban Development Mixed Use Council, a national industry group that is under the auspices of the Urban Land Institute. He is also a Board Member of the Runstad Center for Real Estate at the University of Washington.

    Kerry graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley and obtained his MBA from the University of Chicago.

    Mr. Stuart opened the Texas office for Legacy Partners in 2004 and is currently a Senior Managing Director responsible for the Texas and Colorado markets. Mr. Stuart has been involved exclusively in real estate acquisitions, development, financing, management, and dispositions for over 30 years.

    Prior to joining Legacy, Mr. Stuart held the roles of Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and President for the Palladium Group, where he successfully organized and grew the U.S. division for a European based, multi-national real estate firm. Mr. Stuart was also key player in the initial public offering (IPO) of the multifamily REIT Walden Residential Properties, Inc. Since 1994, he has been directly responsible for $415 million of mid and high rise multifamily development and multifamily acquisitions in excess of $230 million.

    Mr. Stuart serves on the Multifamily Leadership Board of the National Association of Home Builders. He is a member of the Dallas Builders Association and the Urban Land Institute. He is a member and previously served as an officer of the Real Estate Financial Executives Association of Dallas and was formerly an associate member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).

    Mr. Stuart holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut.

    Mr. O’Brien is a thirty year real estate development and investment veteran and is responsible for operations, acquisitions, and development in the Southwest region. At Legacy, Mr. O’Brien is directing the acquisition and development of a $750M pipeline.

    Prior to joining Legacy Partners, Mr. O’Brien was the West Coast Operating Partner for Fifield Companies where he led the acquisition and development of over a $1 billion dollars in high rise residential development in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hawaii. Before his tenure at Fifield Companies, Mr. O’Brien was the Vice President of Acquisition and Development for Lincoln Property Company in Southern California, developing high density apartment projects.

    Mr. O’Brien has also developed approximately 1 million square feet of commercial, office and industrial projects in various partnerships. He is a former board member of Mercy Housing-California; one of the largest non-profit affordable housing companies in the country.

    Mr. O’Brien earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.

    Mr. Avery joined Legacy Partners Residential, Inc. (LPRI) in 2012 as Regional Vice President responsible for property management of the Colorado Region. He brings a diverse 20 plus years of real estate industry experience including commercial property valuation, corporate real estate, asset management, revenue management, and property operations.

    Prior to joining LPRI, Mr. Avery was Senior Vice President for Denver based St. Charles Town Company where he led the property management operations for 40 mixed use urban properties. Mr. Avery also served as Regional Vice President for AIMCO overseeing 8,000 multifamily units in their five state western region.

    Mr. Avery is a MBA graduate from the Warrington School of Business at the University of Florida with a focus in finance and real estate.

    Mr. Morrison joined Legacy Partners in 1992 and is the Senior Vice President of Operations in Southern California, Arizona and the Carolinas. Morrison’s responsibilities include apartments, mixed use apartments/retail and marinas. Additionally, he analyzes potential sites, markets, unit/site plans and develops lease-up/operating budgets for new apartment construction as well as extensive due diligence for buyers.

    Mr. Morrison has been in the multi-family management industry since 1977. Prior to joining Legacy Partners, he was the Regional Vice President for Trammell Crow Residential in Arizona/New Mexico/West Texas, Regional Vice President for Granada Management Corporation in Florida, President/ Principal for Saber Management in the Southwest, and Vice President for Southwest Management in Arizona. He is or has been on the Executive Committee of Apartment Associations in the counties of: Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and the Inland Empire.

    Mr. Morrison earned his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) through the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) since 1982.
